30 weeks

30 weeks A.jpg
30 weeks B.jpg

Swollen ankles, thighs that resemble Stay Puft marshmallows, waddling . . . I was wondering when the heck my third trimester was gonna start. Turns out it was two weeks ago! Well, that explains it. I feel enormous and am fearful knowing I will only get bigger. If I gain the same amount of weight I did with Addie, I'll be looking at another, yes, another 23 pounds in a little over 2 months. Oye. Still, I can't seem to resist the pie, cheesecake and birthday cake that seems to be thrust upon me daily. Why is there so much dessert available at work?

Other then a growing ungainliness and a shrinking maternity wardrobe, the pregnancy has really been great. Little Miss is quite active usually in the early evening when Cap is treated to what looks like a stray cat trying to escape from a sack. We are both wondering if we are gonna be in for it. Luckily she'll have Addie to show her who's boss.

Addie continues to be excited for the arrival of her little sister. She talks about her a lot and likes to tickle my tummy saying, "I'm tickling the baby!" I'm getting more excited to find out if she's going to look like Addie or not. If she comes out looking like an eskimo then we'll know she's gonna resemble her big sister!

Thanks to Janne who reminded me I needed to take some photos and to Cap who took them.

Father's Day

_MG_1860.JPG
On Father's Day, Cap was a little under the weather. To give him some time to rest, I took Addie to Franklin Canyon to (illegally) feed the ducks. We saw lots of lizards and Addie got to pet a turtle that was sunning himself by the edge of the pond. Another Dad came by and asked if you could get salmonella from wild turtles. Um, don't know but I did get out a wipe for her hands when we were ready to move on. I noticed he didn't let his kid pet the turtle but he did shove a camera about an inch from the poor turtles face and probably blinding him with the flash.

Later that afternoon, we had a little backyard BBQ for Cap and his Dad. This photo makes me chuckle. They sorta look like two patients relaxing outside Shady Grove Home for the Sick. Cap was wondering why I was taking their picture when the better photo opportunity was going on behind me.

Nothing like several yards of pink tulle to keep her entertained! Addie likes to have the two of us go underneath it for a princess picnic. I asked her what princesses like to eat and she answered carrots.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads in my life!

Get Your Craft On

_MG_1682.JPG

Addie and I attended Cousin Esme's wedding shower two weekends ago - a first for both of us! We had a blast and I won a prize for my behind-the-back silhouette of a Bridal Esme (way too complicated to explain how to play that game). Then Addie and I got our craft on. For her wedding, Esme had her guests decorate the table centerpieces which will hold potted orchids. We all used different sizes and textures of hot pink and yellow ribbons. Ours is Kate Spade inspired. Addie was an excellent ribbon gluer.

The Backyardigans

_MG_1704.JPG

We have cherry tomatoes fresh from my one pot garden.

We have new lawn furniture fresh from World Market.

We have a little girl that drinks beer. I'm jealous!

Actually, we were practicing blowing into the bottle, but when I wasn't paying attention she poured some on her play food tray and licked it off. Technically that doesn't count as drinking beer.

Untitled (Toes)

Addie "borrowed" my camera Sunday early evening and took her first photos. She struggled under the weight of the SLR, but she did manage to look through the viewfinder. I think she's got a pretty good eye, or at least a foot fetish.

Saturday Pancakes

_MG_1631.JPG

Every Saturday, Cap busts out the pink kitchenaid mixer and Addie and Cap make pancakes. This is a pretty good deal for me since all I have to do is set the table and eat. This is probably the only meal we actually eat at the table so it's pretty special. We might even do a repeat on Sunday morning or switch it up with, say, waffles. Addie is now cooking in style thanks to her cowgirl apron from Aunt Karen. I do love cowgirl stuff. and pancakes.

What We're Watching

Elmo was so last year. Then it was Little Einsteins - one particular episode (Instrument Dinosaurs) that Addie watched ad nauseum. Right now it's Charlie and Lola with a little Angelina Ballerina thrown in too. I love the style of the animation on Charlie and Lola. Check out that wallpaper in their apartment and Lola always has a differently patterned dress on. To die for!

Charlie is the older and most patient brother to precious and funny, 4-year old Lola. When Lola accidentally spills pink milk on Charlie's diorama for school, he doesn't punch his sister and throw the soggy shoe box at her like I would have, but in his most exasperated voice, says, "Loooo-la!" Plus, they speak with British accents which means cash registers are money pingers and popsicles are ice lollies. All the more fun!
