Christmas Countdown: Day 16

_MG_4343.JPG

Our Christmas cards arrived yesterday so I'm diligently addressing 70 cards by hand in an attempt to get them in the mail on Friday. Sometimes I can be quite the traditionalist preferring handwritten addresses, but next year I might research cute label alternatives. I gave up writing individual messages on each card when we had kids and I could get away with a photograph instead. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? I'm sure all 70 people are diligently reading the blog year round anyway. Oh, wouldn't I be flattered if that was the case!

This 1/70th is! I am so envious you have Christmas stamps. I addressed my cards, added the annual letter, and prepared to mail on Monday. For two days I went to the tiny post office outlet in the lobby of an office tower in downtown Houston only to be told the line ended before me. Cards. No Stamps. Greetings are on their way tomorrow as I abandon my 11-hour days to stand in line UNTIL I PURCHASE STAMPS AND MAIL CARDS. To heck with my paid occupation!

Those overseas, of course, will have Epiphany greetings. Oh, to live into my annual intention to address and mail cards Thanksgiving weekend!

Make that 2/70. :)

I share your affinity for handwritten envelopes. (Although I can't quite say why exactly I cling to it since the cards themselves are mass produced.) And because of this affinity, instead of giving the task of addressing and mailing 50 cards to Chria who is solo for the weekend, I am adding it to my list of things to do tonight before we leave for Seattle. Wheeee!

Hnad written envelopes still in vogue with the Michigan P & Qs. Still editing the letter so expect New Year's or Epiphany greetings and hoping your card is a fam photo

I'll at least get pre-printed personalized return address labels for next year. Why didn't I know that tinyprints.com makes them? Watch out, because I think these make great gifts!

Sarah: those pre-printed return address stickers sound wonderful. I unearthed a set of St. Jude donation ones from either 2008 or 2007 and used those. Memo to self: make donation as grateful for not writing on so many envelopes. Okay, selfish reason to donate, but still grateful for stickers.

Stamps purchased on the way home in a loooong line at local post office in Montrose. Had a great chat with a woman whose son was born on September 16. I tend to adopt other people's grandchildren whenever spotted. So awful to be so far away from my own.
